Things I Miss

As much as I enjoy being pregnant and being able to grow this little baby, there are some things that I do miss about my non-pregnant life.  Don’t get me wrong, I feel truly blessed to be bring a baby into this world but there were some things that I definitely took for granted…like bending over to tie my shoes without having to make a grunting noise among other things.

Wine & cocktails on the patio (especially in the summer time). I know after baby, there will be a generous glass of malbec with my name on it patiently waiting for me.

Laying on my stomach.  Tonight I whined, “I just want to lay on my stomach!” Which prompted the idea for this post 🙂

Going “Balls to the walls” with workouts.  Right before I got pregnant, I had just started exploring HIIT (high-intensity interval training).  I miss not having to worry about overheating, my heart rate, or whether or not I should be doing a certain exercise.  On the other hand, it’s definitely helped me become more in-tuned with my workouts and how hard I’m working.  And bonus…I can still do planks!

Eating Freely.  Last Saturday, while my mom and I were at the farmer’s market, I attempted to sample some cheese from one of the vendors.  Before I could put the cheese in my mouth the cheese lady goes to me, “You know that’s made with raw cow milk, it’s flash pasteurized, but I guess it’s your choice as to whether or not you should eat it”. Do you think I was going to eat the cheese after that comment?

Running.  I was able to run well into my second trimester, but as the baby grew and sat over my bladder, my running days came to an end.  I can’t wait to get back at it and bring the baby on jogs with me 🙂 My sister and I already have a goal of running a 1/2 marathon the spring.

As much as I miss my old body and life at times, it does make me a little sad that this time is going by so quickly and soon the pregnancy will be over.  BUT I’m looking forward to meeting this little person, having an outside baby to raise and finding out whether ITS A BOY OR GIRL?!?!  I’m amazed at the fact that I haven’t caved in and found out.  Patience isn’t one of my best qualities, but I think I’ve done well with this during the pregnancy.

This weekend is jam-packed with all sorts of fun actives: a wedding, strawberry fest and another baby shower 🙂  I hope everyone has a great weekend!

You definitely need to go in for a prenatal massage. You will get to lay on your tummy! Only for an hour but find a place that has the special maternity bed – it’s heaven! 🙂
