#Kindawesome {Giveaway}

Happy Friday my friends!  And also…HAPPY CHICAGO MARATHON WEEKEND!  The weekend I’ve been waiting, training, and planning for is finally here.  I feel like a little kid at Christmas 🙂  To kick off this fun filled weekend, I treated myself to an AWESOME Vinyasa flow yoga class in at Invivo this morning.  This is my second time taking a class here (the first one was a prenatal yoga class) and I loved it.  It was my first ever yoga class taught by a male, and Zach did a fantastic job.  It was probably one of the best yoga classes I’ve ever taken.  It’s always nice to give your body a little TLC and a much needed stretch session, especially after 18 weeks of training.  My legs and hips feel ready for Sunday!

invivoWhen my friends over at KIND Snacks got word that I was running the Chicago Marathon, they kindly {cheesy pun intended} offered to send me a box of 12 KIND bars to try.  I am already a big fan of KIND bars, I usually stock up when I go to Trader Joe’s, but I was thrilled when Erin sent me 5 “new to me” flavors to try.

  • Almond Walnut Macadamia w/ peanuts- 10g protein, 2.5g fiber, 7g sugar.
  • Dark Chocolate Chili Almond- 6g protein, 7g fiber, 5g sugar.
  • Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt- 6g protein, 7g fiber, 5g sugar.
  • Maple Glazed Pecan & Sea Salt- 6g protein, 5g fiber, 5g sugar.
  • Cashew & Ginger Spice-6g protein,  5g fiber, 4g sugar.

What I love most about KIND bars is that they’re a tasty snack that I can just grab & throw in my purse and they’re one of the few bars out there that are actually good for you and that isn’t loaded with “junk”.  All of their bars are all-natural/GMO free, are low in sugar, low in sodium and are gluten-free.  Their philosophy is, “if you can’t pronounce it, it shouldn’t go into your body.”  It took me a few days to sample each bar, but I managed 🙂

While I thought that all the bars that KIND sent me were very good, I’d have to say that the Dark Chocolate Chili Almond was probably one of my favorites.

This was the one I was actually the most skeptical about because it contains dark chocolate and I’m not a huge fan of dark chocolate.  But there was something about the ingredient combination that made it taste so good.  I do love the sea salt and chocolate combination & I felt that the sea salt balanced out the spiciness of the chili seasoning.  When I first bit into the bar, it took awhile to taste the chili pepper, but it was there.  Not overpowering, just very mild.  I’m going to keep an eye out for this one at the grocery store for sure.

Another favorite of mine was the cashew ginger.  I love cashews and I LOVE ginger.  KIND did a great job of balancing out the ginger taste with a little bit of sweetness.  Although ginger is a favorite ingredient of mine, it can be a little overpowering.

cashewgingerNow it’s your turn to sample!  KIND will send ONE lucky winner a variety of 12 bars.

    Good luck this weekend! I would love to run that race one day.
    You are nuts, I love dark chocolate 😉 Lol.
    I think my awesome thing for my health (and the baby’s) is the prenatal yoga class I go to weekly in the last weeks of my pregnancy I think its a saving grace for us both.
    I love Kind bars too and always end up grabbing them at Starbucks with my lattes 🙂

      I shouldn’t say that I don’t like dark chocolate, it’s not my first choice 🙂 Although I do enjoy Trader Joe’s dark chocolate almonds with sea salt. Prenatal yoga is something I wish I would’ve done more of. I went to one class toward the end and loved it! Next time 😉

    Wow I didn’t know you had a blog until now, this is awesome! I really love that you took the time to describe the “new to me” flavors of the kind bars, especially since I’m a huge fan of them, but have only tried a few flavors. The chocolate one you mentioned sounds amazing!! I’m wishing you good luck tomorrow In Chicago, you’re going to kill it and make everyone so proud! Just imagine crossing that finish line… Hands high looking up to the sky! It’s going to be one of the best moments of your life, and you deserve it! Can’t wait for mine in NYC in a couple weeks, but I’ll live vicariously through you until then 😉
